PSG ESPORTS AND TALON EXTEND PARTNERSHIP FOR ANOTHER 3 YEARS

PSG ESPORTS AND TALON PURSUE THEIR MUTUAL PATH TO THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS

Paris Saint-Germain and Talon Esports have extended their multi-year team partnership agreement for a further three years. This decision highlights the implication of Paris Saint-Germain in Esports space, after having been the first major European soccer club to invest in it since 2016.

As part of the partnership, Paris Saint-Germain Esports and Talon Esports will continue to work on the League of Legends license and will participate in the Pacific Championship Series across Asia under the tag "PSG Esports”. The joint organization will prioritize talent development and an athletic approach to competitive gaming, while also pursuing commercial partnerships and regionally tailored content creation.

Launched a decade ago, League of Legends remains the number 1 PC game globally, the worldwide sensation drawing in up to 8m concurrent players per day across 145 countries. The Massive Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game is watched by millions across the globe, with the annual World Finals drawing in just under 100 million unique viewers in 2019.

Nadia Benmokhtar, Head of brand Development at Paris Saint- Germain, said: “We are thrilled to renew our partnership with Talon and continue our journey in League of Legends. Esports remains a core pillar of our brand diversification strategy and this partnership further strengthens our visibility in key markets and in front of non-traditional football audiences globally".

Sean Zhang, CEO of Talon Esports, added, "Partnering with a club like PSG means taking our game to new heights. We are excited for the next three years and look forward to the success we can create together."

Paris Saint-Germain is the preeminent sports club in France and one of the top global sports brands in the world with almost 190 million followers. Talon Esports is an organization based in Asia with a history of winning titles across multiple games including League of Legends, Overwatch, and more.

About Paris Saint Germain Esports

Paris Saint-Germain launched PSG Esports in 2016, a move that reflected its status as an innovator. A club for the new generations, it soon became a key player on the international gaming scene, which engages to millions of young people around the world.

Paris Saint-Germain Esports has six professional teams competing at the highest level in League of Legends (PSG.Talon), DOTA 2 (PSG.LGD), Fortnite (PSG.TNA), Arena of Valor, Rainbow 6, and FIFA 23. Paris Saint-Germain entertains millions of players and viewers throughout the year in taking part in major international competitions. Thanks to its Esports teams based in China, Thailand, Hong-Kong and Japan, the Paris Saint-Germain brand enjoys a solid presence in Asia. It also has a US-based roster.

Few clubs are as committed to the professionalisation of Esports as Paris Saint-Germain. As well as the development of its teams, the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Esports programme offers training courses that allow players to hone their skills across a range of games, while adopting practices that ensure ethical gaming. In 2021, Paris Saint-Germain opened an Esports studio at its Boulogne-Billancourt HQ in the Paris region, where beginner and more experienced gamers engage in gaming and digital activities.
